⚠️
Two separate batteries — non-negotiable The 7.4V battery powers the CDI ignition system only. The 12V battery powers the starter motor only. These are completely independent circuits. Never connect them to the wrong component or share one battery between both.
02
Install the Distributor
Timing must be correct before connecting any wires
A
Align the timing marks first
Manual Step 1 — must be done before installing the distributor
✓Slowly rotate the crankshaft until timing belt mark Point A (upper sprocket) and Point B (lower sprocket) are both facing downward and centered simultaneously
iA and B must be aligned at the same time. This is the base ignition timing position.
✗Do not install the distributor with only one mark aligned — incorrect timing will prevent the engine from starting.
📷 Official Reference Photo — Step 1 & Step 2
Left: Points A & B both aligned downward · Right: Distributor with Point C facing up
B
Install distributor — Point C facing up
Manual Step 2
✓Locate the red Point C marker on the distributor face
✓Keep Point C facing upward and slide the distributor onto the engine shaft
✗Wrong orientation scrambles the entire firing sequence — the engine will not start.

Wiring: Two Independent Circuits
Wire colors match the actual wires in your kit
Red wire — Positive (+)
Black wire — Negative / Ground (−)
Black wire with ring — Ground wire
HV thick wire — High voltage ignition
3-color wire — Hall sensor (VCC / Signal / GND)
🔴 Circuit A — Ignition System
Uses 7.4V battery · Red & black wires
🔋7.4V LiPo Battery
Red wire → CDI positive (+)
Black wire → CDI ground (−)
⚡CDI Module
HV thick wire → Distributor center
3-color wire → Hall sensor
🔴Distributor → Spark plugs 1/2/3/4
⚠️ Keep the 7.4V battery connected while the engine is running. Disconnecting it will shut the engine down immediately.
🟠 Circuit B — Starter System
Uses 12V battery · Red & black wires
🔋12V LiPo Battery
Red wire → Start button → Motor (+)
Black wire → Motor ground (−)
⚙️Starter Motor (rear of engine)
💡 Start button is wired in series on the positive line. Press = on · Release = off
🚫
Critical wiring mistake to avoid Connecting the 12V battery to the CDI will destroy the CDI module instantly. Connecting the 7.4V to the starter motor will prevent starting and shorten motor life. Always double-check voltage labels before connecting.
04
Fill Fuel & Coolant
Do this before attempting to start the engine
⛽
Fuel mixture
Never run straight gasoline — the oil provides internal lubrication
iIf you don't have Marvel Mystery Oil, a straight 25:1 ratio (1000ml gas + 40ml 2T oil) is acceptable
✗Never run straight gasoline — no oil means no internal lubrication and immediate engine damage
💧
Fill coolant water
The water pump is gear-driven internally — no external pump needed
✓Fill with approx. 180ml of distilled water
✓Automotive coolant also works and helps prevent corrosion
✗Do not use tap water — mineral deposits will scale up and block the cooling passages

Parts required (included in box)
79
Engine Bracket × 4
Aluminum L-brackets
16
M3 Hex Screws × 8
2 per bracket
🔧
3mm Hex Key
Included in tool kit
A
Attach one bracket to each corner
2 × M3 screws per bracket — 8 total
✓Mount one L-bracket at each of the four corners of the engine base
✓Tighten in a cross/diagonal pattern — thread all screws loosely first, then tighten progressively
✗Do not overtighten — aluminum threads strip easily. Stop when you feel firm resistance.
📐 Official Manual Diagram (p.45) — Bracket Exploded View

📷 Reference Photo — Completed Base Installation
Completed installation — all 4 brackets fitted, engine sits flat and stable
B
Surface must be perfectly flat
Uneven mounting causes crankcase deformation
✓Place engine on a hard, flat surface and confirm all 4 bracket feet contact the surface simultaneously
✓Press each corner gently — any rocking means it is not level. Adjust before proceeding.
✗Uneven base = crankcase distortion, bearing damage, and serious performance loss
⚠️
Mounting on an RC chassis? Add shim pads between brackets and chassis to ensure full contact. Tightening screws with gaps forces the crankcase to deform.

Start-Up Sequence
Gas engine — CDI must stay connected while the engine is running
1
Check battery7.4V fully charged
2
Throttle 30%Not closed, not wide open
3
Connect 7.4VCDI ignition circuit
4
Press startHold max 5 seconds
5
Engine runningKeep 7.4V connected & warm up 30s
✅
Keep the 7.4V battery connected while running This is a gasoline engine that uses spark plugs. The CDI module must remain powered at all times while the engine is running. Disconnecting the 7.4V battery will immediately shut the engine off.
💡
Engine won't start? Wait 15 seconds before retrying. Never hold the start button more than 5 seconds. Check: ① Battery charge ② Is fuel reaching the carb? ③ Are timing marks A and B both aligned?
07
Carburetor Needle Adjustment
HSN = High Speed Needle · LSN = Low Speed Needle
Factory / Recommended Starting Settings
HIGH SPEED NEEDLE (HSN)
3 – 3.5 turns out
Start rich, then slowly lean out. Factory default is 2 turns out.
LOW SPEED NEEDLE (LSN)
1.5 turns out
Controls idle and low-throttle response.
😤 Running Rich (Too Much Fuel)
iHeavy exhaust smoke, sluggish acceleration
✓Turn HSN clockwise, 15° at a time, until it clears up
😰 Running Lean (Too Little Fuel)
iSharp metallic sound, temperature spikes fast
✗Stop the engine immediately!
✓Turn HSN counter-clockwise, 15° at a time
08
After-Run Process
Essential — do this every time after running the engine
🔁
After every run — follow this checklist
Skipping after-run care is the #1 cause of long-term engine damage
1
Close the throttle completely to shut the engine down. Do not cut power abruptly at high RPM.
2
Disconnect the 7.4V CDI battery once the engine has stopped. Do not leave it connected unattended.
3
Disconnect the 12V starter battery as well. Remove or disconnect both batteries after every session.
4
Allow the engine to cool completely before touching the muffler, cylinder head, or exhaust pipes — they reach extreme temperatures.
5
Drain remaining fuel from the fuel tank if storing for more than a few days. Stale fuel causes carburetor gumming.
6
Run after-run oil through the engine (optional but recommended): with the engine still warm, remove the air filter and spray a small amount of after-run oil into the carb intake while briefly cranking the starter. This coats internal parts and prevents rust.
7
Inspect the fan blades for cracks before storing. Replace immediately if any crack is found.
8
Store in a dry, ventilated space away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
09
Important Safety Notes
From the official manual — please read before your first run
🔌 Max 5 seconds on start button
Longer will burn out the starter motor. Wait 15 seconds between attempts.
🔌 Battery wires under 20cm
Longer wires increase resistance, cause voltage drop, and prevent successful starts.
🔥 Fuel is highly flammable
Keep away from open flames, heat sources, and sparks. No smoking near fuel.
🛑 Emergency shutdown
Close throttle fully. If that fails, pinch the fuel line in front of the carburetor to cut fuel supply.
🌬️ Outdoor use only
Engine emits carbon monoxide. Never run indoors or in enclosed spaces.
👶 Keep spectators 3 meters back
During start-up, keep everyone (especially children) at least 3 meters away.
🌡️ Do not touch after shutdown
Muffler, cylinder head, and exhaust pipes stay extremely hot. Allow full cool-down before touching.
Remember This is not a toy. It is a real internal combustion engine — it generates extreme heat, spins at high RPM, produces toxic exhaust, and runs on flammable fuel. Follow this guide, respect the safety rules, and it will be a fascinating precision machine.
